Location :
Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB


Salary :
Starting rate is $ $2,433.00 biweekly

**Duration : Approximately 18 months

Responsible for maintaining and updating ATCO's Natural Gas mapping system of record, including creating GIS Presentation Mapping products.

The Entry-Level GIS Technician will learn under the guidance and direction of the Senior GIS Technician, and/or Supervisor where applicable.

This position works towards performing duties independently.

What you get to do:

Under the direction and guidance of a qualified Senior GIS Technician, the employee will perform the following duties:

  • Update data in GIS, based on as-built documents, engineering drawings and information submitted by various internal and external groups.
  • Assist in maintaining the connected utility model.
  • Perform quality control checks of one's own GIS data to ensure data integrity.
  • Research company records to interpret system information.
  • Produce, edit, analyze and model data as requested.
  • Assist in preparing specialized mapping products as required by various groups.
  • Assist with the verification of data for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
  • Manage and maintain system files and data to the required standards.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and provide information as required.
  • Complete work within designated schedules and provides timely feedback when timeframes cannot be met. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, GIS Technology, or equivalent related courses and experience, from a recognized technical institute.
  • Familiarity with the project process and the ability to effectively manage information from various sources.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to express thoughts clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with support from peers, GIS Technicians, and Senior GIS Technicians.
