About the role


Canadian Blood Services is looking for 2 Regular full-time Community Development Manager - Stem Cell to join our dynamic Donor Relations & Collections ONN team in the Ontario / Atlantic regions.

Ideally these positions will be based out of the Greater Toronto Area.


In this role you will be responsible for generating and identifying leads, building relationships, and ensuring the growth and maintenance of a high quality, committed stem cell registry and supports cord blood collections in the Ontario and Atlantic region.

You will also be responsible for community engagement and maintaining a good public image to ensure there is ongoing public support.

The role works collaboratively with the overall national stem cell team and provides integrated leadership and management of the donor and registrant experience by planning and organizing various initiatives and events.


Key responsibilities include:


Event Coordination & Execution

  • Plans and executes stem cell recruitment events both in community and virtually to achieve the assigned goals.

Business Development Planning, & Recruitment Activities

  • Organizes and conducts information sessions/recruitment presentations to specific target groups, based on research into the community and its demographics.
  • Develops and executes a tactical recruitment plan for the area of responsibility to achieve targets
  • Responsible for finding and engaging with new registrants through referrals, networking, and prospecting.
  • Collaborates with the whole blood and other recruitment teams to strengthen diverse partnerships to include stem cell recruitment.

Manages and Builds Relationships

  • Seeks ways to continuously improve registrant experience
  • Works closely with the Donor Relations team in their assigned territory and the Marketing and Public Affairs teams to implement recruitment strategies to support registrant experience and retention.
  • Maintains strong patient, family and community rapport.
  • Manages local initiatives and campaigns, and acts as a lead for partnerships and liaises with the national partnership team.
  • Maintains effective relationships with service level agreement groups and their volunteers
  • Builds strong relationships with diverse communities to further diversify the stem cell registry and to meet targets.
  • Develops and maintains positive and collaborative working relationships with other leaders across the organization, and specifically with the Integrated Supply Chain within the Region.
  • Act as a media spokesperson when required.

Qualifications:


  • Degree in marketing or business administration is preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in management sales, account management, or corporate development.
  • A record of success closing opportunities and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; comfortable public speaking to various sizes of audiences.
  • Solid background in the successful management and delivery of multifaceted projects.
  • Adaptable, flexible and open to change.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license is required.

Additional information:

Flexible work schedule is required as events occur during the day, in the evening, and on weekends, sometimes on short notice.

Overnight travel within the territory (Eastern Canada).

Must be physically able to complete job duties which includes:
