Human Resources Generalist

Rogers Partners LLP is a law firm with a unique litigation practice that has the personal touch of a smaller firm along with the resources, expertise, and experience of a larger firm. We act as counsel at all levels of our civil justice system. We are defense counsel for insurers and self-insured companies, managing litigation arising from all types of losses including product liability, occupiers' liability, professional negligence, motor vehicle liability, property losses, municipal liability, medical negligence, and sexual abuse. We firmly believe the success of our firm and our lawyers begins with our administrative staff.

Rogers Partners LLP is seeking a human resources generalist to provide support to all employees within the firm.


Principal Duties include:


  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation for all employees.
  • Administer the benefits program including signing up new employees, maintaining Short-Term Disability and any other changes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all related employment legislation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new programs and new/improved HR forms and action plans.
  • Coordinate/schedule internal and external training sessions for employees.
  • Coordinate, and assist with onboarding new employees and integrating them into the firm.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all employmentrelated issues including conflict resolution, investigations and providing guidance.
  • Identify and participate in the recruitment for all administrative positions in the firm.
  • Support the performance management process at the firm and ensure performance reviews for all administrative employees are conducted thoroughly and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist and participate in employee social activities/events.
  • Ensure all job descriptions and firm policies are updated and current.
  • Research current market compensation data and trends and provide recommendations accordingly.
  • Maintain the payroll system.
  • Assist with all other tasks, responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years previous experience in Human Resources preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment is an asset.
  • Previous Payroll experience is an asset (ADP).
  • Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Selfstarter; able to take initiative and work independently with mínimal to moderate supervision on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Professional, friendly, and exceptional interpersonal communication skills (written, verbal, listening).
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in recruitment & selection, training assessment, benefit administration, performance management, employee relations and compensation management.
  • Able to recognize the position as one of a highly trusted and confidential nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize a heavy workload.
