HOURS OF WORK: 7.5 hour shifts MONDAY TO FRIDAY, FLEXIBILITY OF HOURS REQUIRED

  • The purpose of this position is to: _
- provides clinical education leadership to support and enable several different disciplines including Radiation Therapists (MRTs), Clinical assistants, Clerical, Registered Dietitians and Social Work
- provides support to clinical programs for matters involving practice changes to specific professional practices and adherence to these standards by working collaboratively with other EPLs/PPLs in the hospital accordingly.

  • Assists in disease site specific team meetings working by organizing, attending and circulating information as needed.
  • Works with managers and supervisors to assist with onboarding of nonnursing staff to GRRCC
- facilitate the integration of non-nursing professional standards into practice and policy development at GRRCC

  • Works closely with oncology EPL and hospital PPLs to advance GRH professional practice needs at GRRCC
  • Work closely with managers/supervisors/coordinators and patient education lead to execute nonnursing staff education needs at GRRCC
  • Work closely with EPL to track and maintain GRRCC specific staff education guidelines and staff training renewal schedules
- co-chair oncology clinical practice steering committee with EPL or NP

  • Coaching in clinical related matters, monitoring and making recommendations regarding clinical practice and supporting the growth and development of staff in the ambulatory oncology program.
  • Works with managers and supervisors to support and coordination of student placements across several disciplines including being a liaison between outside organizations and the cancer centre (e.g. highschool coop placements, liaison for OSCE exam, clinical observations etc)
  • Monitoring annual compliance activities and registration requirements across several disciplines.
  • Support the building of Edge modules with the OD department and will assign staff to courses accordingly
  • Be a resource at GRRCC for technology training needs including but not limited to
  • Cerner, webex virtual needs, lotus link intranet updates, GRH website upgrades, kiosk support, patient portal support etc
  • Develop working knowledge of oncology related health care legislation
  • Works with managers and supervisors to support orientation of all nonnursing staff
  • Works with managers and supervisors to develop learning plans for nonnursing staff
  • Working collaboratively with the EPL and hospital PPLs, acts as a change agent and offers training and skill development to expand staff education best practices at the frontline, among program and project leads

Qualifications:


  • Regulated Health Professional Degree (eg. Nurse, Dietician, Social Worker, Radiation Therapist)
  • Certificate in Adult education learning principles
  • Certification in Quality improvement, Research and evaluation, Program design, Foundations in Oncology or equivalent e.g. DeSouza Patient Education course preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in similar role is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in the coordination of information from multiple sources with ambiguity, prioritize work in a busy setting, set objectives and manage time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster good working relationships with physicians, medical learners, hospital staff, patients and external organizations
  • Demonstrated flexibility, reliability and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational, accuracy and attention to detail and time management skills with the ability to prioritize
