What you will be doing

  • Emergency Preparedness; OSH; Commissioning and Construction; Engineering; Legal and Ethics; CNSC regulation requirements with respect to contractor / worker qualifications; Security; Environmental; Supply Chain; Quality
  • Will lead the Company's Contractor Management Steering Group as Chairman to provide a coordinated and consistent companywide approach. Will maintain appropriate terms of reference to drive forward the program, maintain awareness and coordinate activities with leadership input and supports from all areas of the business.
  • Working with established project teams from various CNL functions and stakeholders as appropriate for each of the key work streams under the program.
  • Building a team drawing from relevant functions under a matrix management approach to ensure performance oversight, sustainability and continuous improvement of Contractor Management
  • Working with the Director of Construction and the Corporate OSH Director, develop enhancements to the Contractor Management Standard and relevant corresponding management system documentation, including in particular requirements for OSH, Construction and contractor work controls programs. Provides input into overall supply chain strategy and program development.
  • Overseeing and leading working groups in development of new initiatives liaising with key stakeholders (both internally and externally) to obtain 'buy in' and drive the progress of the overall program. Leverage understanding of federal and provincial regulations to harmonize key aspects of the program.
  • Developing and maintaining a 'Roadmap' of continuous improvements alongside translating strategy into tactical and operational plans.
  • As a program under regulatory oversight, prepare material and, or support any regulatory engagements.
  • Supporting Project Managers and contract partners as necessary "Safety on Schedule" Strategic Initiatives.
  • Assisting in defining, sourcing and implementation of enabling tools and technology. Coordinate efforts with IT and functional groups to consolidate, improve and customize (if necessary) various aspects of Oracle, SEPS, ImpAct systems.
  • Directing and leading development of templates, tools and systems which support and advance contractor management, including coordinate efforts with, for example, ISN to further refine existing tools, and or introduce new functionalities relevant to Contractor Management.
  • Providing input to the CNL 10 year plan, Annual Program of Work and Budget (APWB) including preparation and manage Contract Management budget as part of overall Supply Chain Budget.
  • Development of metrics and reporting for Contractor Management including top level Dashboard and necessary reporting to AECL. Oversight of Contractor (Contractor Management) related ImpActs, Non Conformities, and Opportunities for Improvement through to appropriate closure. Increase knowledge and awareness of Contractor Management across the company with particular attention to project delivery including education and training of Project Teams
  • Ensure appropriate learning and development material is created and maintained for the provision of CNL Contractor Representatives (CCR) training.
  • Ensuring CCR's are appropriately trained including mandatory updates to retain status. Maintain roster/records of trained CCR's and continually validate CCR's need to be on roster with line manage.
  • Work with the Director of Construction on the Construction Safety Council and work with CNL contractors to seek learning from safety events, set up and support performance measures, obtain 360 feedback from participants in line with the Terms of Reference for the Council, and participate in the setting of the Strategic Safety Objectives and focus for construction related activities.
  • Leading the Contractor Safety Forum(s) including identification or relevant material to ensure Contractors are kept informed of all matters relating to safety, changes to the relevant site, procedures, rules and work controls, as well as site logistics including traffic movement, deliveries etc.
  • Provide communications to contractors with regard to operational matters at CNL sites including safety stand downs, site conditions etc.
  • Develop an environment for a good working relationships with contractors where there is transparency, trust and a proactive safety culture.
  • Ensuring prime contractors have appropriate Sub Contract Management Plans which cover the lifecycle of a contract from procurement through to close out consistent with CNL own Contractor Management arrangements.
  • Maintaining appropriate arrangements for Contractor Onboarding, Off boarding and re boarding, ensure arrangements are in place to know what contractors are on site, there location, and personnel on site.
