Description

Under the general direction of the Manager, Financial Planning, the Budget Analyst is responsible for the delivery and management of budget information for assigned budget areas and supporting the overall financial planning and budgeting process.

The Budget Analyst works with assigned clients to prepare regular forecasts, analyzes financial data for accuracy, rationalizes variances, provides financial support to the decision-making process, issues accurate monthly/quarterly reports and maintains strong working relationships with faculty, managers, staff and external contractors.


The Budget Analyst updates data in complex financial models (Unit4 financial system and VENA reporting system) and maintains the Budget Transfer and Academic Program Status Change process.

The Budget Analyst is expected to establish clear lines of communication and close working relationships with coworkers and departments.

The Budget Analyst maintains key reporting data, runs financial reports, and delivers end-user training. The Budget Analyst is expected to achieve a high level of accuracy in entering data to models and systems.

  • Job Requirements
  • Sound knowledge of developing, monitoring and reporting on complex budgets, including good knowledge of accounting practices.
  • Strong mathematical ability, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, meet deadlines and adapt in a fastpaced environment with competing priorities.
  • Good analytical, research, investigative and problemsolving abilities, and ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality are essential.
  • A keen interest to learn how to design and produce accurate and informative financial reports in VENA.


  • Additional Information

  • This is a regular, fulltime position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at MPT-A with a salary range of $58,579 (minimum) to $68,826 (midpoint) to $79,075 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
