Join the small, dedicated team at Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba (MMSM) as the
Marketing & Communications Specialist.


Reporting to the Director Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation of promotion and education (P&E) initiatives.

The role assists with the development of communications materials, presentations, publications, website content, social media content, and key events.

This role will also involve the development and implementation of a full range of external, internal, digital, and online communications and P&E initiatives to enhance and promote the image and reputation of MMSM to stakeholders.


Your Key Responsibilities:


General

  • Support the development of the annual communications strategy and budget using market analysis.
  • Work with staff in preparing reports, communication materials, project plans, and presentations.
  • Develop creative briefs and work with vendors on P&E campaigns for various programs.
  • Identify opportunities for education and awareness initiatives in the community and opportunities for positive media coverage.
  • Assist with market research.
  • Review current marketing and communications materials and programs; identify gaps and opportunities; provide recommendations on new tools, platforms, and best practices.
  • Provide support and graphic design for the development of recycling awareness campaigns and educational materials for a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
  • Create corporate graphics, templates, letterheads, etc. that adhere to brand guidelines for internal and external use.

Social Media / Digital Content

  • Draft the annual social media plan in collaboration with team members.
  • Manage the writing, editing and maintenance of online content across MMSM's social media platforms and websites using WordPress.
  • Assist with the development of monthly content calendars and manage all social media channels using eClincher.

School Programs

  • Identify opportunities for external partnerships to build MMSM's school programs portfolio.
  • Develop lesson plans and educational resources for students of various grades. Collaborate with teachers and educators on best practices on educating students on recycling and the environment.
  • Work with outside organizations (i.e., government, school divisions) to align MMSM educational resources with curriculum outcomes.

What You Bring:


Required Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  • Degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 35 years' experience working in communications and a corporate communications environment.
  • Sound knowledge of communications best practices.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Experience/proficiency with a variety of communicationsrelated software (Constant Contact, eClincher, Google Analytics, WordPress, Drupal).
  • Solid experience with website maintenance and copywriting.
  • Well versed in digital communications and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Demonstrates diplomacy and tact in sensitive situations, whilst handling and maintaining confidential information.
  • Familiarity with and experience using design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.

Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba Inc.

(MMSM) is the not-for-profit, industry-funded organization that funds and provides support for the province's residential recycling programs for packaging and printed paper.

MMSM works on behalf of the manufacturers, retailers and other organizations that supply packaging and printed paper to Manitobans.

These businesses pay fees on the materials to MMSM, which are then used to reimburse municipalities for up to 80% of the net cost of the residential recycling system.

Our goal is to promote the reduction, reuse and recycling of the materials managed in our program. During probationary period you will work from the office, once complete it moves to a hybrid work environment.
