People like youThis is complex technical field and office work of a civil engineering nature at the sub-professional level.
The incumbent will prepare rough sites plans and sketches for Municipal service projects such as roads, street lighting, storm and sanitary sewers, waterworks, buildings and other works, and review and check working drawings.
The incumbent also reviews applications from utility companies to install or relocate gas, electricity, telephone or other mains, ducts or lines; ensures compliance with design and service standards as set by Engineering and Planning departments, issues approved permits; maintains liaison with utilities on all matters relating to Municipal works; conducts field inspections of work sites; prepares notes and maps as required; prepares reports and diagrams; makes technical calculations, and selects standard drawings.
Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include a Diploma in Civil Engineering plus sound related experience, eligibility for registration as an Applied Science Technologist or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Sound knowledge of municipal engineering practices, procedures, functions and of the rules and regulations applicable to the section's functions; engineering design principles, standards, methods, and mathematics; sound knowledge of construction methods and materials and of survey methods and procedures as related to the work performed.
Ability to prepare designs for specific public works services and to review drawings for technical accuracy and conformance with municipal standards and related specifications; to prepare, read, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, and related materials.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and handle enquiries and provide technical information and assistance.
Ability to direct the work of survey staff on a project basis. A Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.Please apply online by April 5, 2024.
