The Role:

As one of three staff positions working at the Society's downtown Vancouver office, this key administrative position is the initial point of contact with members, associates, volunteers and the public.

This position provides friendly, efficient service and access to BCSLA programs, activities, and resources, while maintaining the effective operation of core administrative and office functions.


Expectations:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Member Services Coordinator manages member services support while exhibiting a friendly, professional, service-oriented approach that is efficient, effective and proactive.


This position is responsible for:

  • Frontline office reception, including answering phones, directing calls, and managing a range of member and public inquiries;
  • Core office administration, including filing, correspondence, electronic communications, social media, data entry, basic website maintenance, handling of vendors and supplies, virtual meeting administration and other administrative tasks;
  • Principal management of membership databases Constituent Relationship Management and Filemaker
Pro and related files Handling the administration of membership processes and support of various membership programs and services;

  • Administrative support to the Regulatory Review Coordinator and volunteers;
  • Administrative and logístical support of regular events, activities, meetings and special projects;

Skills & Assets:
The successful applicant will demonstrate, through a combination of experience, education and/or training the following key skills and assets:

  • Secondary school diploma, supplemented with experience and relevant training or professional development;
  • Experience in a similar administrative role, in a professional office environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to act with tact and diplomacy;
  • Strong computer skills and experience, including advanced proficiency in the use of key office software

Skills & Assets

  • Extremely strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and highly effective timemanagement, as well as the ability to multitask and work to deadlines;
  • Experience in Constituent Relationship Management software
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative and solutionsoriented;
  • Experience in a nonprofit professional association environment is a preferred asset;

Hours of Work:

The hours of work for this position are 35 to 40 hours per week, normally scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

A combination of working remotely and in the office options are available. Some evening or weekend work may be required on occasion. This position may involve very occasional travel away from the office as may be required from time to time. This position is available immediately. Compensation:
The BCSLA is a Living Wage Employer. The 2023 living wage for Metro Vancouver is $20.90 per hour.


Expected starting salary range:
$25.00 to $35.00 per hour. Compensation will be dependent on skills and experience. There will be a salary and job description review after three months. Five paid sick days are available.
