We are currently looking for Planning Coordinators to join our Meter, Inspection, and Planning Services team in permanent and temporary positions.

Reporting to the Planning Coordinator Supervisor, you will establish connections with Operations to ensure all projects are all clear to perform safely and efficiently by obtaining permission from different agencies across Nova Scotia.

You will be responsible for confirming that all permits, locates, joint use forms, easements, and other requirements for the work to be completed are valid and available to the crews before they are scheduled.

You will be responsible to track and monitor tasks and inquiries associated with customer service requests and communicate regularly with customers on the phone and/or electronically.

You will also provide support to internal customers as required and complete other administrative tasks to support the business objectives of the team, Energy Delivery team, Customer Care team, and provide support to Regional Planners with quoting and inquiries.

As Planning Coordinator you will:
  • Submit and monitor HRM/DOT permit requests, locates for water, sewer, gas, Aliant, Rogers, 360 Network, Environmental permits, engineering approval, issuing of joint use Aliant and CATV forms, creation of work orders when required, and release/booking for final staking when to
  • dos are completed.
  • Check and update customer easements through Property Online, follow the planned outage process, and ensure account, project and task numbers are accurate for the work being performed.
  • Manage underground locate requirements, such as updating work orders with diagrams, returning completed forms to customers, and submitting internal & external cable locates when required.
  • Request quotes from external contractors for services such as tree trimming & Grade 1 Assessments when required, quoting these services, and releasing the work at various stages in the work order cycle.
  • Be responsible for Make Ready and the Aliant work processes and month end invoicing to Aliant and CATV Companies. Also, process and calculate attachment fees related to contributed lines, credit in lieu of overhead, and developer rebates. You will need to manage the quoting process of work orders.


You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

You must be flexible and be available for overtime during peak seasons and after hour emergency service restoration.


What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Grade XII education and/or a certificate, degree in business from a post-secondary institution and have a minimum five years' experience working in a customer service and operational environment with experience coordinating internal and external resources to meet productivity standards.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with great attention to detail as well as proven organizational skills are required.
  • You have a proven track record of providing exceptional service to customers.
  • A high level of proficiency with MS Office, particularly MS Excel would be required.
