Technical Product Specialist - Electrical Division

Key Responsibilities
- Technical:

Technical Expertise

  • Develop and maintain indepth knowledge of the company's products, including technical specifications, features, and functionalities.
  • Assess market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products features benefits dimensions.
  • Ensure product specifications are correct in the catalogues, website, and kept updated with current technical documentation, to comply with all Canadian regulatory and approval requirements.
  • Support the timely completion of large cross reference requests for key RFQs.
  • Address any quality issues with products as they arise and deploy a corrective action plan as per an established QC process.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Customer Support

  • Collaborate with the sales, customer service and pricing teams to resolve complex technical problems to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing solutions.
  • Attend onsite customer meetings and training sessions with the sales team as required.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer technical needs, pain points, and preferences.

Training

  • Conduct ongoing internal training sessions for the sales, marketing, customer service and pricing teams to ensure a consistent understanding of product features and capabilities.
  • Develop online product training modules for the foundation of a Techspan training curriculum supported by the BlueVolt platform for our external customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities - Product(s) Management:

New Product Launches

  • Drive new product launches via collaborating with the Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing teams.
  • Develop and execute against a prelaunch plan checklist to include competitive landscape, market pricing Intel, crossreference and spec sheets, part number setup, initial stock order, lead times, marketing collateral, and sales initiatives.
  • Coordinate product release dates and the inventory required at time of launch and monitor replenishment to ensure ontime delivery to support sales and marketing initiatives success.
  • Monitor product performance and track key performance indicators (KPIs), feedback from the sales team and customers, and make any adjustments necessary to improve product adoption and growth.
  • Communicate any product changes and updates to all internal teams.

Product Development

  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to visit customers and assist in promoting the products, and to solicit feedback on company services, suggested product improvements and/or extensions based on customer experiences and needs.
  • Work with the Purchasing team to maximize inventory turns and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and A,B,C,D class to support optimal service levels.
  • Manage the product life cycle from introduction to obsolete, as required.
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing returnoninvestment analyses; establishing time schedules with suppliers.
  • Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related tasks and results as needed.

Product Strategy

  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and goals.
  • Conduct market research to identify current market share, total potential, competitive landscape, threats and strategic fit to support other complimentary products and bundled solutions.
  • Provide information for management by preparing shortterm and longterm product sales forecasts and analyses.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop gotomarket product pricing and positioning strategies.

Qualifications:


  • CET or equivalent technical experience
  • Some factory automation or panel builder experience would be a large advantage.
  • Experience in the electrical manufacturing or distribution business would be beneficial.
