    Description

    The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a health care professional who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient/family focused nursing care. As a part of the interdisciplinary health team, the RPN will practice within their full scope in accordance with the nursing philosophy and standards set out by Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) and The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).The peri-operative certified RPN will possess the theoretical knowledge and technical skills required to work in the peri-operative setting.

    RPNs will use the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) standards of practice as the foundation for providing patient care in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings with a particular focus on the intraoperative phase and the scrub role and surgical daycare.

    Required:

    • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with current registration
    • Qualified to practice within current CNO RPN scope of practice guidelines
    • Current BCLS certification
    • Perianesthesia Certificate mandatory
    • Must be able to rotate through all services within Surgical Daycare including Endoscopy
    • Excellent clinical, decision making and critical thinking skills
    • Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills
    • Must function within the competencies, professional and clinical standards for Peri-operative Nursing Practice
    • Ability to make intelligent, independent decisions and initiate appropriate action based on patient-focused best practice guidelines
    • Commitment to providing high quality, individualized patient care
    • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment

    • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
    • Available to work 8- and 12-hour shifts, days and evenings.

      Hours of Work: Permanent Part Time, scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

      Salary: $ $35.97 an hour
