Braemar Retirement Centre (MacGowan Nursing Home) is an accredited 69 bed licensed Long Term Care facility located in Wingham, Ontario.

We are excited to announce we currently have an opening for a professional, enthusiastic, compassionate *Environmental Services Manager* to join our team.

Responsible to the Administrator, the Environmental Services Manager is responsible for the oversight of the maintenance and housekeeping departments in accordance with all organizational and legislative policies and procedures and expected professional conduct.


Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • As directed and in accordance with Home Policy and Procedure, applicable codes, legislation/regulations and MOHLTC Standards inspects and performs a variety of routine, preventative and remedial maintenance.
  • Provides services and repairs to maintain the facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and grounds in proper repair for the safety of residents, staff and visitors.
  • Liaisons with outside contractors and inspectors to assure equipment and the environment conforms to applicable codes and regulations. Reports deficiencies to the Administrator or designate and recommends corrective action. Provides cost information as required.
  • Purchases equipment within parameters established by the Administrator. Completes purchase orders, approves invoices and submits to accounting within monthly time frame.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluates systems and processes for ongoing preventative, remedial, and emergency maintenance. Develops and maintains logs for recording schedules and makes changes to systems as required and necessary to improve documentation and inspection processes.
  • Ensures work areas are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe manner. Ensures proper care and use of equipment, tools and supplies are maintained. Maintains inventory of all equipment and supplies. Maintains an inventory and a system for rotating all emergency supplies.
  • Is actively involved in the Quality Monitoring of the department. Maintaining a system of regular audits, implementing corrective action for areas identified as deficient and ensuring follow up for ongoing compliance. Complete monthly summary of CQI activity and reports as outlined by the Facility. Involves department personnel in the QI process.
  • Participates in committee meetings, i.e Fire Safety and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Conducts regular Fire Drills in collaboration with the Professional Practice Coordinator/designate, records staff participation and provides monthly summaries.
  • Participates in developing the annual education program identifying needs of the department and facility
  • Ensures the ongoing security of the Facility is maintained.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the Home is maintained at a high standard,
  • Ensures that the internal laundry systems provides for the needs of the Home and residents.
  • Involved with Human Resource Management processes

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a formal building maintenance training program preferred or proven and related experience.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
  • Good working knowledge of Mechanical Systems
  • Minimum of 12 years working in a supervisory role preferred
  • Working experience with minor plumbing and electrical systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in completing drywalling, painting, flooring, and other general renovation tasks
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID19 and have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check Complete.
