Description

A Planner will match appropriate equipment to priority loads, based on hours of service regulations, customer service requirements and equipment utilization goals.

A Planner will participate in the activities that support the stated overall goals of the Operations Department.

Operations Manager

Responsibilities

  • Plans freight making sound load assignment decisions measuring safety, fairness, consistency and compliance with applicable legislation
  • Ensuring the driving force is evenly utilized, while maximizing revenue and decreasing dead head miles
  • Works closely with CSR's and Driver Managers to deliver consistent, highquality service to our customers and internal customers (Operators)
  • Manages load board
  • Reports inefficient lanes to Operations Manager
  • Liaise with brokerage on orders that cannot be serviced by assets to ensure customer service is met
  • Works with Lane Balancer to assist freight shortfalls
  • Bids on Brokerage Freight for Unfilled Lanes
  • Audit and reconcile trailer pools within designated drop yards
  • Completes daily trailer reconcile
  • Works with Driver Manager for dispatches to Operators on next day load specifics
  • With direction from Customer Service replenish or remove equipment from trailer pools to meet customer expectations
  • Coordinates with Warehouse Supervisor with load manifests, unload manifests and paperwork flow
  • Works closely with Maintenance department to coordinate OOS equipment from all terminals

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Requirements

  • Education equivalent to completion of High School. Diploma/Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years in related occupation
  • Able to function effectively under pressure and as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a minimum of supervision
  • Excellent listening, motivating, communicating and negotiating skills
  • Strong knowledge of H.O.S. regulations
  • Strong geographical knowledge
  • General understanding highway traffic rules and regulations including weight limitations
  • General knowledge of all transport equipment types

Working Conditions

  • 45 hour work week Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm
  • Salary position
  • Fast paced environment with some deadlines and pressures
  • Overtime may be required
  • Occasional Weekend Coverage may be required

$50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
