Description

Aquatech Dewatering Company is a MOECC licensed,
full service environmental contractor specializing in the management of; groundwater, wastewater and surface water, as well as dewatering discharge filtration, and remote (telemetry) flow and quality monitoring instrumentation on infrastructure construction projects.


Aquatech provides and manages highly specialized Contract Dewatering Services, including; all related site assessments, permits, engineered dewatering plans, installation and operation of dewatering wells, discharge filtration systems and temporary bypass pumping systems, as well as all related environmental compliance monitoring and reporting.


The
Environmental Monitoring Technician is a member of the AQUATECH Contract Services Team utilizing technical, communication and organizational skills to help support the overall growth of AQUATECH's range of services.

The
Environmental Monitoring Technician will work closely with Field Operations and Engineering Staff to perform both the installation of, and the daily monitoring of pumping and monitoring instrumentation technology.

Understanding environmental regulations is a major component of this position, especially as it relates to compliance to discharge flow and water quality objectives


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements and guidelines
  • Monitor all pumping and system components daily to ensure proper functioning
  • Install, inspect and monitor water level, water flow and water quality instrumentation and submit records as required;
  • Diagnose system and/or mechanical failures on site
  • Perform onsite adjustments, maintenance and repairs on pumping and discharge filtration systems
  • Liaise with onsite client, engineering and agency representatives and ensure they and we are all operating within environmental permits and guidelines related to our works;
  • Maintain valid driver's license with clean record
  • Must be available to work afterhours and on weekends
  • Must be able to endure outdoor environment (extreme cold & heat)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently and on a daily basis
  • Comply with Aquatech's H&S Policy & OHSA, PPE requirements

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Must possess experience or educational qualification in a mechanical capacity
  • College Diploma or University Degree in a Mechanical/Civil/Environmental/Water Resources program
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • General knowledge of the construction industry
  • Uninhibited ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, push, pull, reach, and grasp
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather, shop and job site conditions
  • First aid, WHIMIS, fall arrest, and confined space training (an asset)
  • Must have their own vehicle and a valid driver's license
