Position Purpose:


Responsibilities:


  • Develops and enforces data base standards, policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models
  • Provides technical expertise in the planning, design and implementation of projects and key initiatives
  • Extract, load and merge data from multiple sources
  • Monitor databases and server health, growth, and proactively manage enterprise data systems toward 100% uptime
  • Develop of strategic performance dashboards and reports using SSIS, SSRS and SSAS.
  • Document all operational processes and procedures to optimize support and management of deployed systems
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models
  • Proactively monitor vendor end of support/life for implemented databases, develop plans for database upgrades and/or replacements, and execute database upgrades/replacements with the broader IT team
  • Ensures compliance to legislative, regulatory and Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Follows all established procedures, including on call support, as required Use backup and recovery best practices to ensure systems are protected from data loss in compliance with established business continuity and DR practices
  • Administer SQL database user access, roles and permissions

Education & Specialized Knowledge:


  • University degree in computer science or related field
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA) SQL 201
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Data Platform or Business Intelligence would be an asset
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class "G" driver's license
- _Advanced technical knowledge with MS-SQL Server 2016 or higher._
- _Advance technical knowledge of MS-SQL Server Business Intelligence tools_

  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSMS, and SSRS would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Oracle Database technologies would be an asset
  • Experience with MS-SQL virtualization and Azure cloud database technologies

Experience:


  • 5 or more years' experience in database development and support in Microsoft enterprise SQL environment
  • Production environment experience in data extraction, transformation and loading, exporting and importing data, data conversion and migration, creating database objects, performance tuning, analyzing SQL code, debugging performance problems
  • Experience in a unionized utility environment an asset

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:


  • Solid problemsolving and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutions to complex technical issues
  • Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information in an organized and concise way
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
