Summer Recreation Activity Assistant - Stellarton, Canada - Valley View Villa
Description
The programmer's aim is to meet the emotional, spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual needs of the residents. Their primary role is to enhance the residents' abilities past functional levels, and prevent any more deterioration. We focus on Quality of Life. Although each resident is encouraged to participate in all programming, every individual has individual needs. Thus, the programmer will create and implement different programs and activities that will suit all levels of abilities.The student may be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs specific to their position.
All of our programs are designed to enhance the social, spiritual, emotional, physical and cognitive functioning of the various levels of Resident's care.
General dutiesmay include but are not limited to:
- Develop and deliver programs that include physical and mental exercises
- Plan, implement and evaluate programs, special events and outings
- Accompany Residents to events
- Decorate for special occasions
- Keep daily/monthly participation records
- Promote and encourage activities and social interaction of Residents
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other departments
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills while working with Residents, families, volunteers, visitors and staff members.
- Other duties as assigned by the Activities Coordinator
- Must submit a Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector check
- Must provide proof of vaccination.
- Must attend and participate in all orientation and training sessions relevant to their role.
- Must be willing and able to work evenings and/or weekends, when required.
- Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be comfortable in a Long Term Care setting.
- Must maintain confidentiality and respect the Resident's right to privacy.
- Must conduct their work in accordance with Valley View Villa's philosophy, mission, policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in using Social Media, Google Apps, and Smart devices
- Strong organizational, and time management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Presentation or public speaking experience
- Problem solving skills
- Team player skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Sense of humour
Job Type:
Seasonal
Contract length: 12 weeks
Pay:
$15.20 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
Flexible Language Requirement:
- French not required
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
