The Opportunity


The Marine Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting COVE's site and marine operations including the Stella Maris Testing Solution, Smart Atlantic buoys and other marine related projects on-shore and off-shore.

The Marine Technical Specialist will provide innovative, proactive recommendations for continuous improvement and provide support to special projects ensuring a client focus with health and safety being a key priority.


What you will be doing:


  • Providing verification, monitoring, and operational support for marine technical projects including Smart Atlantic Buoys, the Stella Maris Testing Platform, and COVE's ROV. This includes verifying sensors are functioning within expected parameters, acting as first point of contact to respond to technical and maintenance issues, providing technical support for clients, supervising project data acquisition, engaging potential new clients and supporting client demonstrations.
  • Providing research and expertise as it relates to marine operations supporting technical proposals.
  • Identifying and recommending equipment for technical workshops/operations. Assisting in the planning, procurement, operating practices and maintenance of onshore and offshore infrastructure inventory.
  • Supporting marine side operations to register vessel visits and services, completing vessel safety and security checks, daytoday communication with marine terminal users, and additional support services provided by COVE.
  • Providing facilities related support including shipping and receiving, forklift operations, site events, and storm preparations.
  • Contributing to new safe work practices and OHS documentation.
  • Acting as Marine Facility Security Officer (MSFO) as required.
  • Assisting in site surveys and site clean up, as required.
  • Ability to complete on call shifts, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:


  • Minimum bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Ocean/Marine, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 35 years' related experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical and project management skills to meet program objectives and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to be proactive in troubleshooting issues with sound judgement and decisionmaking skills.
  • Experience with assets deployed offshore.
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking.
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable, selfmotivated, resultoriented, and able to build a plan and make things happen, while upholding honesty and integrity and without compromising attention to detail.
  • Solid team player who enjoys interacting and building relationships with others.
