The NEW 85 million-dollar Misericordia (MCH) Emergency Department (ED) opened in Fall 2023, is a large urban ED within Edmonton, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Located next to West Edmonton Mall (WEM) and the future valley line west LRT expansion. Reporting to the manager of the ED, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide care for patients presenting to the ED. The LPN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for emergency patients. In this role, you will work in all areas of Emergency at the discretion of the Unit Manager and/or Charge Nurse. The LPN is an integral stakeholder to the Misericordia Emergency Department. Description:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
1-2 years of applicable medical/surgical experience (note: candidates with less experience may be considered) . Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience in a large urban ED. Advanced practice courses (ACLS, PALS, etc.). CLPNA Restricted Activities Modules: Administering Diagnostic Imaging Contrast Agents, Fetal Heart Monitoring, Non-Ionizing Radiation, Administering Blood and Blood Products: Transfusion, Dispending of Medications and Immunization preferred (required upon hire). Intravenous (IV) certification preferred (required upon hire).
