RocMar Environmental Inc. is an environmental consulting firm based in Mississauga, Ontario.

We are looking for an Environmental Technician, who will be reporting to our Senior Occupational Hygienist, and working closely with our Engineering Division.

Our main service areas include Mould, Water Damage, Asbestos, Lead, Biological Hazards, Sewage Backups, Occupational Hygiene and other environmental work as requested by our clients.

  • Conduct environmental site inspections;
  • Providing detailed technical reports;
  • Put in the necessary effort to excel and succeed in the role.

Job description:

Perform various tasks as directed by our senior Environmental and Engineering staff including but not limited to:

  • Conducting mould and water damage assessments;
  • Bulk material sampling/asbestos surveys, and asbestos investigation and testing;
  • Conducting designated substance surveys of residential, commercial, and industrial sites;
  • Evaluating Indoor air quality using various types of monitoring equipment;
  • Conducting odour investigations;
  • Fire and smoke damage assessments;
  • Collecting field samples, preparing of laboratory chain of custody and sample dropoffs to our laboratory vendors;
  • Collecting detailed field notes documenting site conditions and environmental monitoring data;
  • Taking detailed site photographs documenting site conditions;
  • Preparing detailed site reports, including recommendations for remedial / abatement measures
  • Preparing floors plans and sketches;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


  • Degree or Diploma in environmental building sciences, environmental science, health and safety, earth sciences, environmental engineering, public health, industrial hygiene or an environmentalrelated field;
  • Certification in Water Damage Restoration, Fire Damage Restoration and/ or Microbial Remediation is an asset;
  • Experience in building science, engineering, architectural science, environmental abatement/restoration, construction, health and safety is also considered an asset;
  • Understanding of and/or ability to learn technical laboratory and fieldtesting procedures required;
  • Experience in the insurance restoration industry is considered an asset;
  • Understanding of building construction and hazardous building materials is an asset;
  • Capable of writing detailed technical reports;
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize workload to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to be flexible to accommodate emergencies and unscheduled work;
  • Ability to work after regular hours and weekends, as required;
  • Ability to multitask, problemsolve, and meet strict deadlines;
  • Must have own vehicle and clean driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Ontario, often on short notice;
