About:

Vertex is a contracting company based out of Kitchener, ON, that specializes in remediation of contaminated sites via the injection of chemicals into the subsurface, and the installation of treatment systems.

The Treatment Systems Division installs a wide variety of environmental technologies including vapour mitigation systems, dewatering systems, water treatment systems, and multi‐phase extraction systems.

Vertex is looking for a Field Technician who will specialize in plumbing/installation of

Treatment Systems at project sites in the GTA and across southwestern Ontario.

Overview:

Responsible for review of technical system drawings and proposed plumbing plans

Work as part of Team for installation of dewatering, water treatment, and vapour systems

Complete regular system maintenance, troubleshooting, and confirmatory sampling


Job Functions:

• Cut, assemble, install piping for dewatering, water treatment and vapour systems
• Assemble/disassemble components for water treatment systems (tanks, pumps, valves, media vessels, filter vessels, manifolds, mounting brackets, hosing)
• Review of site drawings to understand and implement system plumbing/install
• Complete regular inspections of treatment systems including equipment maintenance and compliance sampling
• Troubleshoot treatment systems issues, and repair plumbing and equipment issues
• Assist with mobilization of equipment and chemicals (load, unload, prep components, operate material handling equipment, chemical inventory) at Vertex shop in Kitchener
• Work at a variety of different Project sites include a mix of existing industrial buildings as well as new Construction sites in GTA/southwestern Ontario
• Work as part of a Team for the installation of various environmental Treatment Systems
• Work safely in accordance with Vertex workplace health & safety procedures

Requirements:

• Technical diploma or ticket in trade (well technician, plumbing, wastewater, etc.) or equivalent experience in drilling, plumbing, waste water, or other related field
• Valid G driver's license and insurable
• Ability to lift 25 kg
• Training certificates (i.e., First Aid, Working at Heights, Forklift) are an asset

• Excellent work ethic and organizational skills
• Mechanical aptitude, and experience with plumbing tools, piping methods
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Problem solving skills
• Works well independently and in team
• Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner

$25.00-$34.00 per hour
