ABOUT US
The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United Engineers & Constructors and SNC-Lavalin. Shoreline Power Group will be completing the Fuel Channel and Feeder Replacement (FCFR) project.

The joint venture has been awarded a contract by Bruce Power to execute the Unit 6 and Unit 3 FCFR at the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Kincardine, Ontario.

This project is part of Bruce Power's Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power's CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064, the project is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program to replace the main components of the reactor.

Unit 6 is the first of six reactors being replaced by Bruce Power through the MCR program.

The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders for Unit 6 and Unit 3, as well as construction management and trade labor.





PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
PROJECT QUALITY MANAGER (PQM)


The Project Quality Manager (PQM) reports to the Project Quality Director and will have input with establishing a Project Quality Team and authority to manage the team.

The Project Quality Manager (PQM) will have authority to implement and maintain a Quality Management Plan (QMP); The PQM is the management representative who has authority and responsibility to identify aspects affecting quality and report them to the Project Quality Director; resolve quality matters; and has responsibility, authority and organizational freedom, along with those responsible for verification, audit and program review functions, to:


  • Identify and record quality problems and problems related to the effective implementation of the QMP.
  • Initiate, recommend, monitor, trend and report implementation of actions required to address quality related issues or provide solutions to such problems through designated channels.
  • Verify and confirm implementation and effectiveness of solutions; and,
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of a nonconforming item or service until a disposition has been obtained.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The PQM and quality control personnel responsible for the verification, examination and testing have direct access to a level of management necessary to ensure that appropriate quality assurance and quality control actions are implemented


The PQM is responsible:

  • To support Project site team on all matters pertaining to quality.
  • To report conditions affecting quality to the Project Quality Director.
  • To manage the Quality Team reporting into him/her.
  • To assist with planning, establishing, documenting, and maintaining the QMP.
  • To assist with directing the performance of internal and external quality audits including audits and assessments conducted on suppliers.
  • For verification of procurement documents, procured items and services for construction and installation work.
  • To assist with the indoctrination and training of project management and staff as defined in the Project Management Plan and QMP.
  • To qualify Quality personnel and maintaining qualification records on file.
  • To participate with the selection and assignment of Project Quality Personnel to ensure they are trained, qualified, competent, and where required certified to perform the assigned functions.
  • To assign personnel to review contract requirements pertaining to quality.
  • For evaluating and selecting suppliers and subcontractors.
  • For reviewing and accepting of customer free issue items and supporting documentation; and
  • To assist Project Management related to matters involving Project Quality Objectives.
  • To direct preparation of History Dockets or History Files, and to review and accept them.
  • To interface with Bruce Power MCR Quality personnel regarding any quality related issues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The entire Quality Staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physical Science, Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control.
  • Certification(s) in: Quality Engineer (CQE), Quality Auditor (CQA), and/or ISO9000 Auditor.
  • Experience and knowledge with Nuclear Codes & Standards, and an understanding of Nuclear Safety Culture and Nuclear Quality Programs.
  • Experience with managing a Nuclear Quality Team, interfacing with Project Team and customer representatives for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Experience with working in a Nuclear facility and interfacing with the facility owner.
  • Experience with Internal Audits, and Customer Qualification audits.
