Detailed Overview:

_ Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families._
Provides information and data management expertise and analytical support for health assessment and disease surveillance functions.

Partners with members of the Population Health Observatory and across Population and Public Health to generate and disseminate appropriate health information.


Responsibilities:

  • Collects and collates regional health assessment and surveillance data; uses analytic reporting tools to retrieve data, design reports, and summarize health information; maintains routine surveillance reports and outputs; develops and produces regular and adhoc reports of key performance indicators that monitor trends and healthcare utilization to support decisionmaking.
  • Acquires data from accessing online resources, requests data from other departments, regional, provincial and national agencies; assists as needed with the gathering and entering of data from health units and other frontline teams to ensure data collection and entry are complete.
  • Facilitates the preparation of data requests by performing duties such as extracting, linking, manipulating, analyzing, and summarizing data at the request of internal and external partners such as medical health officers, directors, managers, and community partners for the purposes of program planning, quality improvement and performance measurement.
  • Supports the epidemiologists in analysis of surveillance data for the preparation of reports and advises on data quality and data limitations for analytic purposes. Performs quantitative data analysis using descriptive and statistical methodologies, statistical software (e.g. SAS, R), and coding; automates routine analyses using standard programming tools; consults with epidemiologists and biostatistician to validate content and methodology of statistical reports.
  • Performs data management and preparation activities, including data extraction, data cleaning and documentation; develops and maintains data collection and storage systems such as databases and spreadsheets, including designing ad hoc reports; automates routine data management tasks using standard programming tools including structured query language (SQL); partners with relevant stakeholders to ensure reporting needs are met for assigned databases.
  • Uses ArcGIS, ArcCatalog and other relevant spatial software to create, organize and maintain geographic maps; uses cartography, geoprocessing, geocoding, vector and raster mapping, spatial joining, spatial editing, and Python and VBScript coding to conduct geospatial data analysis and create GIS maps; maintains appropriate metadata and documentation to describe maps, spatial analyses and processes and shapefiles; uses GIS maps, geospatial analysis, and spatial epidemiology of disease and its risk factors to assist in public health planning and evaluation, disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, and emergency preparedness.
