Your Opportunity:


Working within the laboratory team at the Grey Nuns Hospital, the Laboratory Assistant I is responsible for performing all aspects of the pre-analytical path of workflow including phlebotomy, collections by heel or finger stick, data entry, specimen processing, specimen distribution and preparation for transport.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.


Additional Required Qualifications:

As Required.


Preferred Qualifications:

You have excellent communication skills both oral and written, with ability to relate information or directions.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required; communication with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals is critical in this position.

Recent phlebotomy experience, for both adults and pediatrics in an acute care environment. Recent experience with EPIC LIS. Experience with Urinalysis. Experience with specimen processing and sendout procedures.
