    Description
    Rob Oliphant is seeking candidates for the position of Legislative Assistant in his Hill Office. Help fulfill Member's priorities in Ottawa.
    Track the progress and status of legislation (government and private members' business), regulations, and policies as required (House of Commons, Committee, and Senate procedures/processes)
    Draft communications messages related to parliamentary work for traditional media, MP communications tools, and social media.

    Liaise with the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on matters related to the MP's role as Parliamentary Secretary.

    Represent the Member's office at committee or other meetings to ensure the Member is kept apprised of developments that may have an impact on their work.

    Facilitate/Coordinate the Member's Social Media accounts (X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, etc.)
    Good knowledge of communication methods and techniques.
    Ability to use the MS Office suite and other systems supported by the House.
    Proficiency or bilingualism (English and French) in both verbal and written is an asset. Help review the Member's emails and communications.
    Help prepare responses to constituents' requests, and inquiries.

    Help manage the Member's agenda, reviews, and discusses commitments, schedules meetings, and events and informs the Member of any changes in accordance with the appropriate rules and guidelines.

    Help with special projects that aim to improve the effectiveness of the office's administrative operations.

    However, work from home is permitted at an agreeable schedule (i.e., Full-time; evening and weekend work may be required.
    Ottawa (Hill Office) with a willingness to travel with the Member to the riding or elsewhere in Canada.

    Strong communication and writing skills, team player.
    Experience working in a professional office setting providing research and legislative support.

    University degree or post-secondary education from a recognized institution in political science or a related field, combined with experience working with senior management OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
