Technical Product Owner.

This person will be a single-threaded leader working in direct partnership with a Manager of Technical Product Management and embedded within a software engineer delivery team(s).

You will drive a cohesive roadmap and execution within one of SPS' Platform Services aligned to our Strategic Plan.

Based in our office in downtown Minneapolis, our hybrid work model provides the best of both worlds. We #succeedtogether through in person collaboration, balanced with remote work as well.

What is the day-to-day like?
The role will work closely with peers to articulate priorities and manage delivery trade-offs.

As a technical resource, a TPO understands customer needs and product requirements, simplifies technical user stories and epics, and acts as a technical advisor to the product manager, product owner, development team, organizational stakeholders, and leaders.

The role will collaborate and communicate daily with the software engineering and user experience (UX) teams to oversee and approve product designs, enhancements, and quality.


  • Partner with technical product managers, product manager(s), builders, and software engineers to understand the market and the customers you are serving to convey that vision to engineering and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects and Principals to create and manage architecture/service roadmap, ensuring complete visibility for both business and technical items.
  • Work with largescale technical products or products with many pending architectural changes
  • Maintain product roadmap in partnership with the Development Manager and Domain Technical Lead to provide consistent, clear, and realistic updates to all stakeholders.
  • Create user stories and acceptance criteria to provide clarity for software engineers.
  • Achieve and communicate key results as committed to in the road map.
  • Respond to questions from developers and clarify requirements related to the voice of the customer (VOC) and business requirements.
  • Participate in scrum ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, grooming, and release planning.
  • Drive resolution of crossteam dependencies

What experience and skills do you need?

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience or 6 years of experience without a degree.
  • Working in an agile development environment.
  • Strong communication skills that allow you to speak directly to your stakeholders using their language and mental models.

What experience is preferred?

  • 2 years' experience in software development
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
