Position Title

  • Marketing & Promotions Strategist
    Position Summary
  • The Division of Extended Education is hiring a permanent, fulltime Marketing & Promotions Strategist to join their team
  • The Marketing and Promotions Strategist works as an integral member of the Extended Education team to maximize visibility and enrollment for Extended Education programs, courses, and events, with an emphasis on marketing strategy and project management.
  • This position will collaborate with the Division of Extended Education (EE) and the Marketing and Communications department to develop and implement innovative and effective marketing strategies and tactics to support noncredit programs in Extended Education. This role provides expertise, recommendations and best practices and services to increase Extended Education enrolment.
    Position Responsibilities
  • Your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
  • Develops current and agile media plans using an integrated approach of traditional and non-traditional media
  • Works with Program Coordinators and Business Development Consultant in Extended Education to develop effective creative ads that meet business needs and adhere to RDP's brand. This includes drafting content to ensure message resonates with target audiences and fits specifications of a particular medium; editing; proofreading
  • Works closely with Graphic Design Specialists to translate business needs into creative solutions, using brainstorming and creative briefs
  • Implements media plans (ie. contact sales representative to confirm pricing and negotiate pricing as necessary; book advertising; complete purchase requisition and ensure process adheres to purchasing policies outlined by Financial Services)
  • Increases exposure of Extended Education programs and contributes to increased enrollments through the development and delivery of the marketing strategy
  • Collaborates with the EE team and the RDP Marketing & Communications department to develop and implement annual marketing plans
  • Allocates, utilizes, and adheres to budgets identified by requesting departments to develop appropriate collateral materials and advertising
  • As part of marketing and media plans, recommends appropriate media, frequency, and schedule to effectively advertise to identified target audiences, using budgets identified by requesting programs
  • Negotiates with external vendors (e.g., printers, photographers, videographers) to quote production of required materials
  • Using best practices, develops tools and methods to measure success and ROI of marketing and communications initiatives
  • Actively participates in training and professional development activities in accordance with the goal and development plan and as opportunities become available
  • Actively acquires knowledge and skills related to the position through selfguided or inquirybased learning and mentorship

Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of postsecondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent in communications or marketing.
  • Two years' experience in marketing and communications writing and implementing marketing and creative briefs
  • Experience writing and editing copy for promotional purposes
  • Ability to write quickly and concisely and to focus messaging to the appropriate target market
  • Project management skills to assess priorities and work to deadlines including developing project plans and seeing projects through to completion
  • Tenacity and the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of social media platforms/how these can be effectively used as a marketing strategy
  • Ability to translate business needs, creating and implementing effective marketing and communications strategy into effective tactical creative solutions that meet business needs
  • Experience with graphic production and color print process

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent in Marketing, English, Communications or Journalism.
  • Communications and Advertising Accredited Professional (CAAP) and/or Canadian Association of Public Relations and/or International Association of Business Communicators is desired.
