As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help inspire and train current and future industry professionals and become part of Canada's leading polytechnic.


The Heavy Equipment Technician program will train you to maintain, repair and overhaul heavy vehicles and industrial equipment, both towed and self-propelled.

The heavy equipment industry is very diverse, and typically apprentices specialize in a certain field of repair.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
  • Respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
  • Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  • Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute
  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
  • Instruct in all area's of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of Heavy Equipment Journeyperson ticket or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal required.
  • Red Seal in both Off Road and On Road an asset
  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket.
  • Teaching experience an asset

Remuneration:
Instructor salary grid ranges from $64, $113,063.86 annually.

However, starting salary for new hires averages between
$78, $85,595.38 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations.

  • This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement_
