Job Summary:


This unique Project Management position is primarily based out of our onsite office location within the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and consists of project management, technical engineering, and sales support.

As an extension of YVR's internal maintenance and capital teams, Ainsworth provides the customer with support in all aspects of their facility operations from design, construction, to operations, and maintenance.


Reporting to the Construction Team Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing the supply and installation of building automation system projects.

The Project Manager is accountable for managing site construction, engineering design, graphic generation, programming, commissioning, and client training. Working directly with the Construction Team Manager, project installation is planned and coordinated to ensure quality and profitability.

The Project Manager works with various project requirements and external parties (consultants, commissioning agents, contractors, clients, etc.) to ensure project delivery.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct estimate review and analysis to determine project cost with Construction Team Manager. Provide forecast revisions as required based on this analysis.
  • Perform monthly billings on assigned projects within the team on schedule to maintain positive cash flow where possible. This includes schedule of value creation (SOV) that reflect the cost breakdowns specific to each project.
  • Regularly update the project scheduling tool to ensure that design and field work is planned at correct times to maintain construction schedules and accurate costing forecasts.
  • Understand and maintain team goals and policies.
  • Provide assistance, mentoring, and training for team members.
  • Promoting sharing and collaboration between YVR and other sites within the larger team.
  • Participate in labour requirement projections, including field and design staff, with the Construction Team Manager.
  • Ensure workloads are balanced, realistic, fair, and sustainable for all team members.
  • Ensure all team members feel part of the team and are taking ownership of their responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Keep all team members informed as to project financial performance.
  • Maintain harmonious relations with other team members inside and outside of the immediate group.
  • Maintain ongoing professional relationships with customers and all departments within the customer's organization.
  • Continually develop methods to improve quality and reduce operational cost.
  • Maintain company standards of design practices and expected standards of installation practices as required.
  • Ensure all completed projects meet customer requirements in accordance with specification, company standards, local regulations and most importantly customer standards and expectations.
  • Conduct project kickoff meeting prior to work commencing on projects so members are on same page and project goals/potential pitfalls are known to the team.
  • Perform engineering duties as required, which will be dependent upon construction volumes and backlog.
  • Update all projects in sales analytics tool prior to closing.
  • Attend scheduled team meetings to review business practices, financial updates, health and safety updates, and company updates.
  • Provide engineering and technical assistance to other team members as required.
  • Be available as needed onsite, occasionally outside of normal business hours during special projects requiring afterhours work.
  • Management of field staff on assigned projects:
  • Ensuring all team members feel part of the team and are taking ownership of their responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Providing mentoring and training for staff and ensuring clear career paths.
  • Ensure that installation electricians follow company safety manual and policies.
  • Report all on site incidents through company reporting system (ecompliance)
  • Ensuring electrician workloads are balanced, realistic, fair and sustainable.
  • Work with charge hands to ensure that the installation electricians are clear on their responsibilities and expectations.
  • Ensure that the installation electricians have equipment and material to perform their work.
  • Ensure that electrical inspections are being coordinated.
  • Work with YVR Service and Account Manager to coordinate YVR RAICs (restricted area identification card) for construction team.
