Black & McDonald's Alberta Region team is growing If you are a committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team this opportunity is for you Reporting to the Construction Operations Manager the Electrical Estimator plays a key role in analyzing costs preparing take‑offs and developing accurate estimates for electrical projects primarily within the commercial construction sector In this role the Electrical Estimator supports project operations through detailed estimating work progress tracking planning scheduling and managing project changes We're seeking a seasoned professional with strong technical and financial acumen who consistently delivers profitable estimates The ideal candidate is well‑versed in contract management scheduling and industry tools and is willing to travel to client sites as required to support overall project success .Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To Prepare estimates for commercial construction projects including cost of materials labour and equipment for projects based on contract bids quotations schematic drawings specifications Advise on tendering procedures examine analyze tenders recommend tender awards participate negotiations Establish maintain tendering process set up cost monitoring reporting systems procedures Coordinate price packages suppliers subcontractors owners designers architects regarding tenders Participate site review tender review hand-off closing meetings with stakeholders engineers contractors purchasing Update maintain estimating database Liaise consult communicate engineers architects owners contractors prepare economic feasibility studies Conduct material purchasing secured jobs Other duties assigned Competency Requirements Change Orientation open change ability identify needed make happen Communicates Effectively verbally writing Continuous Learning effort learn contribute others Customer Focus understands needs perspectives internal external customers Holds Self Others Accountable takes personal responsibility meet commitments Problem Solving Innovation approach problems logically seek innovative solutions Teamwork Collaboration works cooperatively collaboratively others Values Respects Others encourages diversity EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Degree diploma electrical engineering estimating project management construction engineering technology applicable experience tradesperson may substitute education requirements Over five years experience proven track record accurately estimating electrical projects achieving strong profit margins contributing overall financial success Skills Abilities Other Requirements Knowledgeable contract management construction planning execution blueprint reading structural design interpretation comprehend financial statements Proficient user MS Office Word Excel Project Experience JD Edwards Accubid Bid2Win considered asset Position Calgary NE office estimation across Alberta travel various sites province may be required Please advised Criminal Background Check Professional Reference Check will part employment screening selection process Additionally applicants must legally entitled work Canada Black McDonald welcomes applications persons disabilities Accommodations available request candidates taking aspects recruitment selection process.
