You are
A _Clinical Specialist - Intake Supervisor_.

You provide expert consultation and guidance to support health and social services professionals and the Wheelchair Services staff through clinical leadership, mentoring, education, evaluation, and research.

You contribute to the delivery of quality seating, positioning and mobility related services by examining, developing, refining, and evaluating the specialty body of knowledge, care practices and processes required to provide mobility devices to Manitobans.

You provide educational programs to Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals and within the community.

This is a.5 EFT position.


Your Role

  • As a clinical resource consultant your role is to:
  • provide clinical expertise, knowledge, and support to health professionals and Wheelchair Services, WRHA, and 3rd party (i.e. EIA and FNHIB) staff regarding wheeled mobility related equipment, accessories, and products within and beyond the Manitoba Wheelchair Program.
- provides clinical expertise and recommendations for Wheelchair Services activity including:

  • facilitate timely equipment acquisition processes and assistance with resolution of wheeled mobility related issues through collaboration and facilitation of referrals.
- evaluate and make recommendations regarding products, supplies and equipment.
- maintain accurate data and records as required.

  • Provide leadership to staff and volunteers of the Wheelchair Services program;
  • Manage the provision of services in a manner which is consistent with the organization's vision, mission, values as well as municipal, provincial and federal legislation.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with other Manitoba Possible programs and entities, funding sources and collateral agencies to create an efficient, effective, and seamless system of services.
  • Participate in the strategy, writing and negotiation of Service Purchase Agreements and provide both Manitoba Possible and funders with appropriate feedback and reporting as required under those agreements.

What You Know

  • Entrytopractice academic credential in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated as determined by the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM).
  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba.
  • Extensive postgraduate education in seating, positioning and wheelchair practice required.
  • Successful completion of relevant and extensive professional education in seating, positioning and wheelchair assessment, intervention, prescription and provision required.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent, clinical experience of which one year must be in the seating, positioning and wheelchair practice area.
  • Demonstrates leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult education preferred.
  • Working knowledge of research/program evaluation methodology.
  • Ability to work with mínimal direction.
  • Ability to function within a computerized environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Mental and physical health to meet the demands of the position.
