    What is the opportunity?

    Are you interested in being a part of a small but growing team tasked with shaping the future of the technology organization at Canada's largest bank? RBC is looking for engaged and motivated individuals to help secure our position as one of Canada's best-run technology organizations.

    As a Data Engineer within the strategy and technology enablement team, you will support the delivery of an analytics platform roadmap to enable the success of teams tasked with managing our technology organization. This is an opportunity to flex technical and analytical skills while working across the breadth of the organization, collaborating with top minds within the company.

    Supported by passionate leaders and the expertise of a massive technology organization, your work will help enable teams across RBC to utilize data to deliver on key strategic objectives and foster a rich tech community.

    What will you do?

    • Data Engineering: Actively work to build, evolve, and maintain data warehousing solutions that support the technology leadership team and serve the needs of our analytics user base
    • Insights and Analytics: Design and develop reports and dashboards within Apache Superset; and develop foundational datasets in SQL to support reporting analysts.
    • Data strategy: Support the design and implementation of a user-centric data and analytics pipeline.
    • Data discovery: Actively work to identify new sources of data to support enterprise decision-making and departmental analytics projects
    • Technical consulting: Provide support and guidance on the adoption of reporting or data engineering tools and practices.
    • Solution Design: Participate in solution and data architecture activities for various enterprise initiatives.
    • Research: Participate in the research, design, and validation of software-based solutions for business projects and partnering teams.
    • Solution creation: Build and support the deployment of data-related solutions to the RBC internal cloud platforms

    Must have:

    • A diploma or degree in STEM or work experience in software development or related fields.
    • Experience with databases and/or data warehouse technologies
    • Experience with SQL and reporting or dashboarding tools
    • Passion for user experience and a drive to advocate for the needs of your user

    Nice to have:

    • Experience designing and building ETL pipelines or doing data transformation work
    • Experience building software solutions using Python, , or Java.
    • Experience with container platforms, public or private cloud
    • Experience with process engineering, UML, process mapping, architecture diagrams, or other forms of articulating complex systems
    • Familiarity with data science tools and techniques
