The Opportunity

The Materials Handler coordinates, expedites and ensures the uninterrupted flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities.

Responsibilities

Read schedules, reports, and job orders to determine materials required, availability of stock, and order priority
Work with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and complete discrepancy reports as required
Locate and distribute materials to specified production areas
Record and maintain inventory of quantity and type of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed
Compile and maintain inventory and production records
Examine material received, verify part numbers, engineering codes, and check for discrepancies
Transport materials to and from suppliers and customers

Qualifications

High School Diploma and/or Secondary Education related to Operations Management, Materials Planning/Handling
Experience and/or training in Inventory and Materials Management preferable
Ability to maintain effective communication both internally and externally to support outstanding customer service
Driver's license with proven safe driving record
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience working with automated and/or barcoding inventory systems is an asset
