Description
The Quality Assurance Manager provides the business with clear guidance on quality management system requirements and improvements.The right person will be a flexible and adaptable team-player, have excellent people management and communication skills with experience in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with natural health products and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or compounding will be considered an asset.Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and tactical planning to all areas of quality control including quality of materials, operating standards and quality of finished products.
- Manage and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training programs.
- Maintain and improve traceability controls including lot number system and document controls.
- Familiar with organoleptic testing process for raw materials quality to ensure they meet specifications.
- Ensure accuracy of Quality Control team activities including worksheet verification, creation of certificate of analysis, raw material testing and product release check points.
- Schedule and oversee internal audits of business operations to ensure standards are met and consistently maintained including sanitation, environmental controls, records, material handling, lab operations and finished goods.
- Responsible for customer complaint procedures including investigations, responses and tracking.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all products compounded in the lab as well as the raw materials, packaging materials and operations required in the compounding process including quality specifications and standards.
- Ensure conformance with Health and Safety policies through training, audits, education and clear communication while maintaining cost controls for quality operations.
- Development and improvement of new and existing Quality Management processes to optimize business and compounding operations.
- Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and leading project initiatives.
- Maintain records, preparation of department reports, KPIs and provide recommendations for process improvement.
- Identify appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) where needed.
- Lead the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC).
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team on process improvement initiatives and effective strategies to enhance overall team and business operations.
Requirements/Attributes:
- Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably with a major in Biology, Chemistry or Food Sciences.
- 3+ years of experience in natural products, chemical, food services or related industry.
- Extensive Operational and Quality Assurance experience.
- Proficient with MS Office suite.
- Experience in risk assessment and Quality System auditing standards.
- Familiarity with natural health products regulations, WHMIS, HACCP and cGMP.
- Ability to react quickly and communicate effectively to all levels of the company, as well as with customers and suppliers.
- Ability to make decisions exercising good judgment and work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to spot trends and identify root cause and identify ways to maximize operational efficiencies.
- Ability to work independently, multitask job and appropriately adjust priorities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
This is a full time (40 hours/week) permanent opportunity with two (2) weeks' vacation per year along with comprehensive employee benefits including personal days, medical coverage and a Group Savings Plan.
