    Summary of the Job

    As a Product Design Engineer you will be joining a creative, fast paced international team that is responsible for designing new products and supporting existing ones across the wide Veolia portfolio (Filters & Membranes, ZeeWeed/ZeeLung, Electro Separation, Ozone, and UV).

    Your primary role will be to provide FEA and CFD support on projects as the team executes New Product Introductions (NPI) and Engineering Changes (ECO). There will be an opportunity to work on product designs as well, going from concept to production.

    Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Conduct FEA and CFD analysis to ensure designs are safe and will meet performance requirements.
  • Help train other team members how to conduct FEA and CFD studies
  • Create internal training material, standard report templates, and maintain/manage study archives.
  • Work in a team environment and individually to meet project objectives.
  • Create concepts, and down select them.
  • Develop prototypes that can be quickly fabricated utilizing internal 3D printing and machining capabilities.
  • Work closely with Accelerated Testing and Process teams to develop test plans to validate designs.
  • Create detailed design packages (3D models, drawings, BOMs, and documentations) for manufacturing and external suppliers.
  • Perform design calculations such as tolerance stack ups, thermal expansion, loads/stresses.
  • Work with Sourcing, Supply Chain and Quality to select suppliers, optimize designs based on their input and validate parts through the PPAP process.
  • Support Manufacturing trial builds and ramp-ups, by designing fixtures, tools, writing work instructions and transferring technical knowledge.
  • Support existing products changes through the ECO process; revising 3D models, drawings and BOMs.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Service, Commissioning and Projects teams to transfer knowledge regarding new products and changes.
  • For some projects the Product Designer will also be the Project Manager. Responsibilities will include creating and maintaining a project schedule, developing cost projections, running regular update meetings, coordinating with all the other functions and leading the creation of the required Toll Gate documentation.
    Hard Skills:
  • Strong understanding of FEA and CFD modeling.
  • Analysis & Reporting.
  • Understanding of design best practices.
  • Understanding of how to design plastic injection molded parts and metal structures.

    Education & Experience

    Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
  • FEA & CFD modeling experience, preferably Ansys Mechanical and Fluent.
  • 5-10 year experience in relevant roles.
    Preferred:
  • 3D modeling experience, preferably Solidworks.
  • Proven industrial experience in the development of new products from concept phase through to successful NPI commercialization.
    Working Conditions:

    This role requires ~10% travel visiting test sites, customers and other project related activities. Currently we have a hybrid (3 days office, 2 days home) policy but we may move to a full time office policy.
