    Job Description

    Mission

    As an Electrical Technician in protection and control (P&C), you will be able to participate in the design of high-level diagrams, the development of the protection philosophy and contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on substation projects, hydroelectric power plants and renewable energy projects with many clients across Canada. This is a hybrid role that can be based out of one our offices in British Columbia (Vancouver, Kelowna, or Rossland).

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Design Protection & Control systems with 2D software (AutoCAD)
    • Prepare project deliverables including detail drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, equipment sizing, etc.
    • Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasks
    • Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
    • Participate in the development of electrical Control and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, logic diagrams, three-wire AC diagrams, protection and control diagrams, wiring drawings, device connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and specifications for the manufacture and installation on site of Control and Protection panels
    • Participate in the development of AC and DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, AC and DC load calculations, AC & DC distribution diagrams, connection drawings of chargers, batteries, inverter, etc.
    • Participate in site surveys (substations and power stations)
    • Coordinate with the engineering disciplines: apparatus, civil, mechanical and building in order to develop design solutions for optimized and advanced substation and power plant systems
    • Ability to carry out site work sporadically when the opportunity arises (start-up or monitoring)

    Qualifications

    • College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technologies or equivalent related discipline
    • 2 years of relevant experience
    • Basic knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
    • Knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is an asset
    • Work experience in the design of electrical systems is an asset
    • Experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada, an asset
    • Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset
    • Autonomous, resourceful and enjoys teamwork

    The expected salary for this position is from $60,640.00 to $75,800.00 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate's experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
