    Position Overview
  • Are you excited about gaining some handson experience in graphic design while learning more about a career in local government? The District of North Vancouver has a fantastic summer opportunity to assist in various graphic designrelated projects and duties.
  • Working with the members of the Communications team and directly supporting the Graphic Designer, you will undertake a variety of projects and assignments that will enable you to practice your design and layout skills, develop and organize templates and learn how to follow design standards. You may also have the opportunity to catalogue and take photos of many of the District's beautiful parks and facilities.
  • In this role you will assist with creation of social media graphics and other design projects on an asneeded basis. This is a great opportunity for a budding designer to develop their skills and use their creativity in a fastpaced, realworld environment.

Qualifications:


  • Be between the age of 15 and 30 years of age and be legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid SIN, be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act).
  • Not hold another fulltime (30 or more hours) summer job.
  • Have a personal vehicle available for business use and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Preference will be given to 1st and 2nd year students in Graphic Design or related fields.
  • Basic skills with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Some experience creating layouts and social graphics, following brand guidelines.
  • A portfolio showcasing examples of visual design, such as typography, colour theory, hierarchy, contrast, repetition, and whitespace.
  • Photography experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail.

Term:
Flexible start date (earliest April 24, 2023) for up to 12 weeks. Possible extension to 16 weeks.
