Job Requirements:


  • Undergraduate Degree or higher in biological sciences or equivalent (e.g., natural resource management, ecology, zoology, hydrology, forestry, etc) and 2 years of related experience
  • Registered (or immediately eligible) as a Registered Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in B.C. with the College of Applied Biology within six months of employment.
  • Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a Professional Biologist (RP Bio) with the College of Applied Biology within 6 months of appointment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be confirmed. If you are not currently registered, advise how you have confirmed with the CAB that you are immediately eligible.
  • 2 years of Related Experience in each of the following, or a combination totalling 2 years:
  • Experience in conducting environmental monitoring and assessments.
  • Experience in fieldbased biological sampling, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience providing advice within a regulatory regime. Experience collaborating and/or consulting with First Nations on resource management issues.

Conducts field work which may include the following: travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Valid B.C. driver's licence.

Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.

Ability to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.

About this Position:


Position may be location any in BC Ministry of Forest or Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship office in Burns Lake, Smithers, or Terrace.

An eligibility list may be established for temporary or permanent positions.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
