What you'll do
- Report to the Claims Supervisor.
- Settle litigated injury/liability claims in a fair and timely manner.
- Investigate, evaluate and negotiate bodily injury claims with plaintiff counsel or through defense counsel to equitably settle claims.
- Adhere to company Bodily Injury Guidelines.
- Assess information and case law to form arguments to defend liability position.
- Foster strong working relationships within the Claims Department, other business units and industry partners.
- Travel, as required.
What you've done
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent (bonus points for related postsecondary education).
- You have or are working towards your CIP/FCIP designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada.
- You're no newbie — you have at least 2 years of bodily injury claims adjusting experience and 5 years or more of adjusting experience.
- You have a strong knowledge of litigation file handling procedures, case law, medical terminology and common injuries.
