Description
We are seeking a Team Leader, Occupational Claims to join our BPA team in Toronto.

Reporting to the department's management team, the Team Leader is responsible for providing technical expertise, training, and coaching to the team supporting our departmental health management practices, philosophies and initiatives.

The Team Leader is responsible for performing file reviews and quality assurance audits to monitor and report on success, while making recommendations to help drive superior customer service and case outcomes.


The Team Leader, Occupational Claims will:

  • Respond to internal case inquiries, providing technical expertise and coaching to team members
  • Perform complex file reviews and address caserelated challenges
  • Conduct periodic audits of case files to monitor and track key metrics, adherence to service level standards and best practices, and compliance with internal control requirements, reporting results to the management team
  • Through file reviews and audits, identify trends and opportunities to improve service delivery, processes, and best practices
  • Identify areas for training, coaching, and individual growth
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding and training
  • Work with the management team in developing and monitoring individual development plans
  • Deliver internal training sessions on a variety of topics
  • Maintain and updates training documents and resources
  • Stay current with industry developments, trends, legislative and regulatory changes that have an impact on department practices
  • Continue to handle a small caseload and provides coverage support as required
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management team
  • Travel between BPA office will be required

To be successful
as a
Team Leader, Occupational Claims with BPA, you will need**:

  • University degree in a related field
  • 5 or more years of experience in disability management
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
  • Previous experience in a leadership, coaching, mentorship, or and/or quality assurance role
  • Experience relevant to the duties and accountabilities of the position
  • Extensive knowledge in disability management practices and principles
  • Firm understanding WSIA / WSIB legislation, practices, and case management.
  • Experience providing coaching, training, and mentorship
  • Understanding of multiemployer employee benefit plan administration
  • Strong problemsolving skills, able to think critically and make decisions in unfamiliar situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with claims and disability management systems
