Position Purpose:


The Manager of Grid Modernization Technology Enablement focuses on the strategic deployment and continuous enhancement of critical grid modernization software and technologies.

This position is instrumental in advancing the utility's technological capabilities, particularly in Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Distribution System Operator (DSO) software, and other in-house developed software capabilities.

The role demands a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and collaborative leadership to drive the utility's modernization efforts forward.

Deployment of Modernization Software: Lead the deployment of critical grid modernization software solutions, including ADMS and DSO software, ensuring these systems are implemented efficiently, effectively, and aligned with the utility's operational needs and strategic goals.

Product Management for In-House Software: Provide product management leadership for development of in-house software capabilities. This includes overseeing the full product lifecycle from concept through deployment and ongoing enhancements and maintenance.

Leadership and Team Development: Stand up, Lead and supervising a team of analysts, and engineers providing mentorship, guidance, and training to ensure the team is equipped with the latest skills and knowledge in grid modernization and technology

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Planning, Asset Management, Field Services, and Control Rooms to develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for technology enablement. This collaboration is essential for understanding operational needs and ensuring that technological solutions are effectively integrated and utilized.

Roadmap Development and Execution: Develop and manage a strategic roadmap for the enhancement of asset management and grid modernization technologies. This includes setting clear objectives, timelines, and milestones for developing and implementing software enhancements and new capabilities.

Maintenance of In-House Capabilities: Ensure the reliability and efficiency of in-house developed software through proactive maintenance, updates, and support. Address any issues swiftly to minimize impact on operations.

Cohesive Development Approach: Establish a cohesive approach to the structured development of technological capabilities, ensuring that all efforts are aligned with the overall architectural vision, scalability requirements, and the utility's strategic objectives.

Architecture and Scalability: Oversee the overall architecture of the asset strategy and operation's technological solutions, ensuring they are scalable, interoperable, and capable of supporting the utility's long-term modernization goals.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Foster an environment of innovation and continuous improvement, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends that could enhance the utility's grid modernization efforts.


Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical foundation in grid modernization technologies, software development lifecycle, and product management.

Experience

  • Proven experience in the management of grid modernization technologies, including ADMS and DSO software, within a utility or similar environment.
