About Bench Brewing:

Located in the heart of Niagara's wine country, our farmhouse brewery is situated on the grounds of the historical Maple Grove Public School in Beamsville, Ontario. Our brewery is a haven for visitors to unwind, learn, and indulge in the art of crafting beer.

The Bench Brewing Campus spans across eight picturesque acres and will boast a 50hL brewing system, a tap and tasting room, a beer garden, a 'funk house' dedicated to our wild ale and barrel fermentation program, and even our very own hops field.

The Role:

Under the supervision of the Retail and Customer Service Manager, the main responsibility of the Retail Supervisor is to deliver an outstanding experience to all brewery guests with genuine and enthusiastic hospitality. The Retail Supervisor plays a key role in hospitality, performance, and knowledge, supporting the Retail Associates by supervising daily operations, setting a positive example, offering assistance, and possessing a solid grasp of Best Bench Standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet and interact with guests as a representative of Bench Brewing Company and our local community
  • Oversee the overall daily guest experience at the retail outlet
  • Check schedules during shifts to ensure adequate staffing levels and adjust as needed to meet labor cost goals
  • Take part in regular beer tastings and informative sessions to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all Bench Brewing products
  • Collaborate with Retail and Customer Service Manager to establish processes and suggestions for enhancing the guest experience
  • Accurately take orders from guests and input them into the POS system
  • Carry out opening and closing duties at the retail store
  • Conduct end-of-day cash procedures
  • Precisely handle and record guest payments
  • Perform inventory checks, restock beer fridges, and assist around the brewery
  • Make recommendations on SOPs and procedures to elevate customer experiences and boost sales
  • Contribute to merchandise selection to best cater to Bench retail customers
  • Provide insights on consumer behavior to help increase average spending
  • Assist in addressing customer complaints effectively and escalate issues to management when necessary
  • Drive sales and enhance experiences through upselling techniques
  • Assist in organizing events, including offsite occasions
  • Aid in monthly inventory checks and weekly merchandise counts, as well as transfers of retail beer cases following proper procedures
  • Assist with accurate input and validation of items in the POS system and understanding of Shopify and Odoo systems
  • Ensure that the shift is equipped with all necessary tools and resources to deliver an exceptional and memorable Bench experience
  • Support the Entrenched In Bench membership program
  • Fulfill other duties as needed
Qualifications:
  • The determination to succeed as part of a team - collaboration is key at Bench
  • Reliable transportation to and from Bench
  • Must hold a valid Smart Serve certification
  • Minimum of 13 years of experience in beverage sales, retail, or hospitality
  • Possess a cheerful, professional, and optimistic demeanor
  • A passion for learning and a keen interest in expanding knowledge about beer and the brewing process
  • Comfortable working outdoors
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours
  • Capable of lifting kegs and cases of beer

Education:
  • Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
