Your Opportunity:
Working with adolescents experiencing acute mental health needs on a 10-bed adolescent psychiatric unit.
The Family Counselor works within the multi-disciplinary team providing individual, family, and case management support for youth admitted to the unit.
Family counselors must be skilled in various therapies for the youth and with families and be organized and efficient to meet the fast-paced demands of an inpatient unit.
Family counselors provide the case-management connection in coordinating discharge and follow up care, individualized care-plan development and also support and facilitate groups.
Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families.
You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community.
You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of the Brain Story Certificate (attachments) preferred. Training in trauma informed care is preferred. Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) training. Successful completion of an accredited certificate program with full membership in AAMFT is beneficial.
