SHOP MANAGER/ROAD CREW TECHNICIAN


Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Shop Manager will be responsible for providing vital support to the leadership team while exercising diplomacy, initiative, independent judgment and discretion augmented with a forward-thinking attitude.

As the right-hand person to the General Manager, you will also be responsible for developing and maintaining programs related to all functions of the business resulting in the continued expansion of business development efforts and overall growth.


You are a "hands-on doer" with a willingness to perform an extensive array of tasks and possess the capacity, knowledge, desire and strong work ethic to achieve success.

Your short-term goals and 2- year plan include learning all there is to know about The Battery Shop, new business technologies and most importantly, provide exceptional customer and technical know-how to TBS customers and suppliers with the goal to undertake the challenges to progress into a training and management function and eventually assume the duties of General Manager.


Sales and Service

  • Adhere to and utilize installation and operation manuals, provide topshelf maintenance service in compliance with company procedures, standards and safety protocols
  • Act as a resource for the customers and teach/train them on how to effectively use the product and equipment
  • Inspect equipment to ensure adequate performance. Efficiently conduct diagnostic procedures to determine the fault and record all diagnostics and service notes
  • Respond to service and repair requests from customers and promptly escalate issues to the General Manager
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and other service technicians
  • Install/repair/replace/adjust defective parts and components
  • Testing repaired/installed equipment to ensure proper operational performance
  • Provide customers with a summary of performed work as well as suggested items for future work
  • Record all products consumed or request products where necessary and schedule return appointments
  • Meet and exceed revenue targets and recognize sales opportunities to suggest service and products to meet customers' needs
  • Liaise with vendors and act upon "soft sales" opportunities
  • Willingness to travel mainly in Southwestern Ontario

Coaching and Training

  • Participate in company training and coaching sessions as directed
  • Assist in the training and development of new road service technicians
  • Prepare for and participate in performance reviews as requested
  • Remain current with the newest releases of products, parts and technical bulletins
  • Conduct price negotiations with vendors and service providers
  • Be aware of changes and complying with new and existing standard operating procedures

Operations

  • Adhere to company dress code and follow the company code of conduct with all coworkers, customers and suppliers
  • Willingness to participate in duties associated with a small business such as inside counter sales/service, onsite customer visits and deliveries and building maintenance
  • When requested, participate in, review and analyze special projects and keep the management properly informed
  • Follow current industry trends and provide intelligence and recommendations to management to act on

Expecting that it will take up to 2 years, you will then move into and assume the role of Shop Manager.

Your duties and accountabilities would then focus on:

  • Responsible for managing business services by ensuring office operations and procedures are organized and controlled
  • Organize office operations and procedures and document new policies and procedures to all staff
  • Under the direction of the General Manager, partner with IT vendor on all equipment and technical services
  • Oversee the recruitment of new employees for the office and shop
  • Ensure top performance of staff by providing them adequate coaching and guidance, and enforcing appropriate discipline to erring employees; planning, supervising, and assessing employees' job performance
  • Assist the General Manager with payroll preparation
  • Assist in the management of the company's Safety program
  • Conduct price negotiations with vendors and service providers
  • Liaise with vendors and act upon "soft sales" opportunities
  • Participate in duties associated with a small busin
