    Description

    Position Scope

    The Electrical Designer role is primarily responsible for the design of industrial electrical systems for FPS machines. The role requires the incumbent to learn and aid experienced colleagues in the electrical design process from conceptualization, through testing, analysis and refinement, to implementation.

    The candidate must employ a working knowledge of PLC programming principles and troubleshooting techniques to balance company cost with customer value. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering background, excellent personality, superior communication skills, and be open-minded to new ideas and challenges.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical drawings, documents, bill of materials and process on FPS various projects.
  • Power distribution drawing design (24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, 575VAC etc.)
  • Control System drawing design (PLC IO, instruments, VFDs, Motions and panel layout)
  • Network architecture Diagram design (e.g. Ethernet IP, ProfNet, Modbus, etc.).
  • Bill of materials development (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Rittal, Hoffman Components.)
  • Field installation support and cable schedule as needed.
  • Control panel FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
  • Understand and follow FPS Autodesk Vault application and documentation management.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications & Abilities

  • Post-secondary, bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • AutoCAD Electrical proficient.
  • Able to work with UL, CSA, and CE Electrical Codes.
  • EGBC Registrant – P.Eng/EIT preferred.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Able to work independently, self-motivated, as well as a team player. Willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
