Drive Products is a National Distributor of truck-mounted equipment (TME), and a Canadian Leader in the design and installation of TME systems solutions.

Due to growing business in our Ontario operations, we have an immediate need for the following at our Mississauga location:


Major Responsibilities

  • Program computers and electronic instruments such as numerically controlled machine tools including VM1000 CNC with Fagor 8055 Control Panel
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts.
  • Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
  • Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics.
  • Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
  • Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heattreating, welding, and cutting equipment.
  • Maintain work area, equipment and tools in a clean and organized manner, following all safety guidelines.
  • Equipment is to be maintained and calibrated per the documented schedule and at the request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate with internal staff as required.
  • Recommend Process improvement.
  • Participate in training.
  • Compliance with all internal Policies and Procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety and Quality Management.
  • Compliance with all regional legislation including Occupational Health and Safety, Transport Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Act.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Able to read drawings (imperial measurement) and schematics.
  • Experience with PLC Controls is an asset.
  • Having strong mechanical, analytical, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Apprenticeship Diploma/Certificate, and 35 years of experience as a CNC Machinist and/or or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of CNC Machines, Engine Lathes, Hand, Air and Measuring tools
  • Knowledge of industry standard machinery and equipment used in a driveline shop environment consider and asset
  • Ability to communicate well
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to think critically and troubleshoot
The working condition of the shop requires repetitive tasks that are physically demanding. These tasks require manual dexterity, attention to detail; hand-eye co-ordination, bending, drilling, hammering and heavy lifting. All safe work practices must be adhered to. Overtime hours may be required based on operational needs.

$18.86-$32.17 per hour
