    In 2023, the Calgary Stampede Foundation will open Sam Centre, a year-round immersive experience that offers an intimate look at the rich history of the Stampede and its role in our community. Sam is anchored in the peoples, stories, and artifacts of the Calgary Stampede. It will engage and excite guests in Calgary's Stampede story through immersive, interactive, story-driven experiences that put our guests at the center of the action.

    Position Summary

    The Sales & Guest Experience (SGX) coordinator is a member of the Sam Centre Sales and Guest Experience (SGX) team, reporting to the Manager, Sales and Guest Experience. The SGX coordinator is a guest facing role, responsible for handling all on-site guest related inquiries, including ticket purchases, managing gallery digital show control and ensuring all interactive exhibits are ready for guest participation. Your visitor first approach and exceptional communication skills will be essential in fostering a positive and enriching environment for guests to Sam. The SGX coordinator is a member of a multi-faceted team responsible for providing service excellence with superior professionalism.

    Roles and Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional guest service while working with a dedicated team of volunteers and colleagues.
  • Use your natural rapport skills to welcome guests, sell tickets and answer general inquiries about Sam Centre.
  • Use specific Sam ticketing systems to sell, review, and exchange guest tickets in person at Sam.
  • Manage gallery show control for digital experiences and ensure all interactives are set and ready for the guest to experience.
  • Work closely with colleagues from Exhibits and Experiences to ensure guest consumables are readily available and accessible.
  • Liaise with the Sam Exhibits and Experience team and the Sam Education team to welcome groups, schools and travel trade tours, assist with checking guests in, distributing take aways and ensure a smooth transition between entering the building and beginning their program.
  • Work in a dynamic environment with both volunteers and team members with the shared goal of ensuring each guest has a unique and memorable experience.

  • Qualifications and Education Requirements

    The SGX Coordinator has passion for guest service, is versatile, motivated, and organized. Enjoys working in a dynamic environment with multiple team members with the goal of ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

    The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and able to multitask as well as the following:

  • Passionate about guest services and provides exceptional skill and adeptness when dealing with guests.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in ticket sales, credit card sales and point-of-sale purchases is a definite asset.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in tourism and/or hospitality.
