With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking two (2) full-time Supervisor, Sustainable Outdoor Environment.


TCDSB Capital Development works with students and families, teachers and staff, consultants and contactors to provide safe, sustainable and supportive environments for learning.

The team is responsible for managing the design and construction of all new schools, building additions, childcare centres and outdoor learning spaces.

We work to create responsive learning environments that engage and care for students and provide opportunities that inspire curiosity, reflection, collaboration, lifelong learning and leadership.

Our current Outdoor Environments Program includes over 80 site improvement projects. The opportunities to have a positive impact on the daily lives of students through their built environment are endless.


CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW AS FOLLOWS:
Minimum of a 3-year college diploma in Landscape Architecture or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience, including experience in the development and management of landscape architectural projects

Membership with the appropriate professional association (O.A.L.A, C.S.L.A) an asset

Understanding of AODA legislation an asset

Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups including school communities, school administrators, senior staff, consultants and others that will be required in project/program delivery

Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks and projects to successful completion with strong attention to detail

Construction and contract administration experience an asset

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs

Availability to work outside of core office hours as required.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to and under the direction of the Senior Manager, Project Resources and as the Board's representative/advocate for projects/programs, you are responsible for the timely delivery of multiple projects/programs and other initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Act as the Board representative and provide ongoing communication, coordinate, and attend project meetings with the users, project managers, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction, contractors and others that may be required to assist in the project delivery

Develop and prepare work scopes related to school yard asphalt paving, storm water management, site greening, outdoor classrooms and playground upgrade projects for external consultants and teams

Work with external groups and consultants on programs/initiatives driven by school communities

Monitor financial status and controls on projects


Perform administrative duties related to Capital Development or School Renewal/Maintenance Projects /Programs including; prepare reports and studies; assess, manage projects; liaise with project proponents; provide outreach to potential project proponents; utilize internal management programs for the tracking and monitoring of projects and payments; track and monitor project status including project financial status; respond to requests for information internally and externally.

Participate in the review and provide direction of contract documents for Capital Building projects

When volume of work allows, supervise other improvement projects as required or assigned

Perform other duties as assigned or required
