The Inventory Data Analyst supports inventory planning, supply management and operational alignment of purchasing and slotting by providing analytical support to the Inventory Team.

The Inventory Data Analyst conducts systems and business analysis, data gathering and analysis using MS Excel (macro, pivot tables, vba), data visualization tools/models, BI tools, RPA (Robotic Process Automation) tools; manipulates data and identifies trends to support strategic inventory planning and decision-making.

The Inventory Data Analyst works collaboratively with cross-functional team members, provides detailed analysis, advice, interpretation and resource support by compiling and reviewing complex, multi-source data for various process improvement initiatives, optimizing inventory management and purchasing initiatives across the health system.


What you'll do

  • Conducts analysis, manipulates and interprets large datasets from multiple sources using data visualization tools, and synthesize information into effective visuals to identify trends in order to support strategic inventory planning and decisionmaking.
  • Uses formal data gathering techniques to extract data from various database sources such as Meditech, Traskstar, Peoplesoft, various reports on BI and Data Express, and applies appropriate methods to analyze, model, interpret and summarize results.
  • Provides guidance in data gathering and uses analytical techniques and tools to support team projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyzes current inventory levels, prepares regular inventory reports, detailing inventory counts, discrepancies, and other statistical data to support the improvement of various inventory related processes.
  • Reviews reorder points, optimal ordering levels, calculation and updates minmax levels of items regularly, provides strategic input for maintaining service level fill rates, works with the inventory, clinical and sourcing teams to decrease backorders and stock outs.
  • Analyzes the current slotting of items in the warehouse and assists with optimizing the process by reviewing the item velocities, dimensions, weights, product groupings to maximize the overall efficiency of the warehouse operations. Export data from various data sources and BI reports to optimize slot locations.
  • Under direction of a leader, reviews, analyzes and evaluates business processes, systems and user needs, and provide input/recommendation for process improvement.
  • Other duties as required.

What you bring

Qualifications:


  • Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Business, Health Economics and/or related field, 2 years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act

Additional Assets Include:

  • Ability to plan and complete projects effectively.
  • Knowledge of hospital information systems.

_A computer assessment (MS Excel) shall be considered as part of the qualification / hiring process for this position. Computer assessment is to be completed at an approved health authority worksite. There is a 60 minute time limit for this computer assessment and successful completion (70%) is required on the computer assessment._
