Information Technology (IT) Manager

Description:


AFN is currently seeking an Information Technology (IT) Manager to support the Director, IT, as well as the IT Team.

The successful incumbent will take direction from and report to the Director, IT. As such, the IT Manager leads its technical services and infrastructure.

The incumbent provides guidance and advice on hardware and software requirements; ensures the IT infrastructure meets the organization's business needs and operating requirements; monitors system performance and perform capacity planning; maintains documentation of system configuration and operational processes and develops standardized work practices and processes.


The IT Manager oversees IT project management, resource management, supervision of IT staff, as well as communication with the senior management and end users.

The IT Manager is also responsible for assisting with IT strategic and tactical planning, as well as identifying, selecting, and deploying the appropriate technology resources that will support corporate goals and objectives.

At times, this position is required to travel.

Applicants must possess:

  • Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in information systems or computer science, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in an IT management capacity required with supervisory experience.
  • Advanced overall knowledge of networking, operating system, and server architectures.
  • Good overall knowledge of programming concepts, software development cycles, and associated tools and platforms.
  • Proficiency with databases.
  • Proficiency with VPN networks, firewalls, encryption, and other aspects of network security technologies.
  • Highly effective project management skills.
  • Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to nontechnical audiences.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Strong negotiation and prioritization skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of applicable IT laws and regulations.
  • Some experience managing budgets for an IT department.
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience leading and supporting an IT Service Desk environment is considered an asset.
  • Must have a valid license and access to a vehicle to use on occasion.
